The Use of AI in the Job Application Process Using AI when applying for jobs may give you a strong edge by helping you tailor your applications, improve your CV, prepare for interviews, and even discover new opportunities. However, there are a number of points to consider: • AI generated information can sound generic and slightly robotic. Make sure you personalise and proofread any AI generated content to ensure it fully reflects YOU. • Do not apply for lots of vacancies all at once using AI tools. This can lead to poorly matched applications and missed details which are specific to each position. Take time to complete individual applications carefully, one at a time. • AI may suggest skills/achievements for you which aren’t accurate. Ensure everything in your application, CV and cover letter are truthful and reflect your actual experience/skillset. • AI can help simulate job interviews but cannot replicate human interaction or company specific nuances. Make sure you combine AI practice with real mock interviews with actual people. • AI may not identify subtle (but important) company cultures or values. Research into the company yourself, tailoring your application to align with their specific mission statement, values and culture.
